A recent survey, conducted by the research group IDC, found that the Software as a Service industry is headed for a boom period due to the economic crisis. The following results were found from the survey:
- SaaS growth is projected to increase 36% to 42% in 2009 over 2008.
- By the end of 2009, 76% of U.S. Organizations will use at least one SaaS delivered application.
- The percentage of U.S. firms who plan to spend 25% of their IT budgets on SaaS applications will jump from 23% in 2008 to 45% in 2010.
With the current economic conditions, SaaS is becoming a more attractive option for consumers as IT budgets are constrained. SaaS offers a more flexible, cost effective solution for ISVs and consumers during this recession
