Our data integration suite is a highly flexible and configurable set of tools that provides seamless integration between the CTMS and other external systems used during a clinical trial.

By integrating information from EDC, IVRS, CTMS, Finance and other applications to the CTMS means you can quickly and easily have an overview of your clinical trial information to hand in one place. This will allow better decision making, better reporting and save time and money.

With GLUE, the CTMS can become the data hub for key clinical trial information allowing integration with systems such as:

  • EDC
  • IVRS
  • Other CTMS systems
  • Office applications such as Microsoft Project and Excel
  • Finance systems
  • Data marts and OLAP
  • Ad hoc data loads and exports

Inbound and outbound data integration is supported.

Data transfer mechanisms supported:

  • AS2 - a secure business to business protocol that provides a high level of security for transfer of documents. This is used for automated data integration.
  • Secure FTP - remote systems can transfer data into the CTMS using SFTP. GLUE automatically detects new files and processes them. This is uses in automated data integration
  • A browser based user interface service allows manual upload of ad hoc data
  • Other transfer mechanisms can be supported but are not part of the default deployment

Data formats supported:

  • CDISC ODM v1.2 and v1.3 standard compliant data import. The importer can be configured to import some or all of the data supported in the ODM format that is pertinent to the CTMS. The default deployment has a field mapping convention that allows import of ODM files conforming to the naming convention. The ODM parsing engine provides the ability to easily develop additional custom mappings.
  • CSV - data can be imported and exported in this format. There some standard import mappings that are part of the default deployment and files conforming to the header naming convention will be imported without any development work required. The CSV engine provides the ability to easily develop additional custom mappings.
  • XML - imports and exports XML data defined in our proprietary format
  • SQL - data can be extracted in SQL format compatible with the target external database system where the database structure is compatible with the CTMS database. The exporter allows configuring the tables and columns that should be exported.
  • Other formats can be supported but will require development work

Remote Applications Supporting Data Integration

GLUE includes additional applications that can be installed on remote systems to support the integration process. These tools include:

  • Changed Data Capture Remote Database Synchronizer - for data marts and reporting. A Java based tool the customer deploys on their server that connects to our system and extracts the changed data creating file suitable for importing into the remote database.
  • AS2 file transfer handler. A Java based tool that is easily installed and preconfigured to communicate with the CTMS for transfer of files between two systems. It supports secure transfer of files using digital certificates over HTTPS
